Meet Our Team

Dr. Stefanie Donnell-Randall, DDS

Dr. Stefanie grew up in Ames, Iowa. She graduated from The University of Northern Iowa in 2001, earning her degree in Biology with a biomedical emphasis. She followed her undergraduate work at The University of Iowa College of Dentistry, where she became a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2005.

In addition to her private practice, Dr. Stefanie also serves as MercyOne Hospital's on-call dentist, performing dental consultations and in-house oral surgeries for medically complex patients.

One of Dr. Stefanie's favorite aspects about being a dentist is changing a patient's view about dentistry. She feels one of the highest compliments she can receive is when a patient tells her they are no longer scared to go to the dentist after she has treated them. Once the fear is gone, she believes patients are motivated to return to the dentist and become more receptive to education about keeping their mouth and body healthy, which, she says, “can be life-changing and is so exciting to be a part of!”

Dr. Stefanie worked at a community health center in Des Moines for several years after becoming a dentist. She loves to help all people but has a special place in her heart for the underserved—one of her main reasons for choosing dentistry as a profession was to utilize her talents for good.

Dr. Stefanie met her husband, Steve, at a rock-climbing class during her undergraduate years in college. They have six active children: Elliette, Emma, Hallie, Harper, Violette and Simon. Family is very important to her and her favorite thing to do is spend time with them. Dr. Stefanie says: “There is never a dull moment at our house!” When she gets some quiet time, she also enjoys reading, fitness, sewing, and anything crafty.

Dr. Stefanie’s vision for The Dental Loft is to create a calm, comfortable environment that does not feel like the stereotypical dental office.  She fully believes in her skilled, kindhearted team who is enthusiastic about providing patients with compassionate, high-quality care. As a mother of six, Dr. Stefanie understands the importance of a positive, convenient dental experience for busy families. The Dental Loft is just a few miles from her home and she is very grateful for the opportunity to serve the Urbandale community she and her family love.

Ashley

Dental Hygienist, Team Lead

Ashley grew up in Urbandale, IA and graduated from Dowling Catholic High School before pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene at The University of South Dakota, where she graduated in 2018.  It was during her time there where she met her husband, Nick.  After completing their studies, Ashley and Nick moved back to the Des Moines area and got married in 2019.  They are now proud parents of two beautiful children, Cecelia and Cooper.  Outside of work, Ashley enjoys reading, cheering on the Packers during football season and spending quality time with friends and family.

Kim

Dental Hygienist

Kim has been a dental hygienist for 20 years!  Originally from Georgia, she moved to Iowa in 2019, where she continues to bring her passional for dental health to her community.  Kim is a proud mother of two, whose extracurricular activities keep her cheering on the sidelines in her free time.  She also enjoys working out and staying active in her free time.

Ashley

Dental Assistant

Ashley has been a part of The Dental Loft Team since its opening in 2018.  Trained chair-side by Dr. Stefanie, she has over 6 years of hands-on experience and a deep passion for patient care.  Ashley is especially skilled at working with children and patients who experience dental anxiety, always going the extra mile to ensure comfort and ease.  Outside of the office, she enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, and playing guitar. 

Katie

Dental Assistant

Katie, originally from Montezuma, IA pursued her passion for dental care by becoming a registered dental assistant after completing her education in Texas.  Recently, she and her husband moved back to Iowa and got married last October, and now live in Norwalk.  When she is not working, Katie enjoys spending time with her two golden retrievers, making sourdough and spending time at the lake.

Jade

Dental Assistant

Jade grew up in Northeast China.  She met her husband while pursuing her dental degree at Zunyi Medical University in China.  Jade worked as a general dentist in the Tokushinkai Dental Clinic in Shanghai, China, for over six years.  After their son was born, they moved to her husband's hometown in Des Moines, IA.  She earned her registered dental assistant license by training under Dr. Stefanie at The Dental Loft.  In her free time, Jade likes to work in her garden, try new Asian cuisine, watch her son's soccer games and spend time with family and friends. 

Deanna

Patient Coordinator

Deanna has over 8 years of experience in the medical field, and excels in providing compassionate and respectful customer service.  She strives to always ensure that every patient receives the highest quality of care.  Deanna holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Administration from Western Illinois University.  Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their three children.  She also loves baking, taking Caribbean cruises, and attending her kids' sports and dance events. 

Katy

Financial Coordinator

Katy grew up in West Des Moines, IA and graduated from Vatterott College in Des Moines in 2016, earning an Associate's Degree.  Katy lives in the mountains of Montana, working remotely as The Dental Loft's Insurance and Financial Coordinator.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Jon, cuddling her kitty, and reading fantasy novels.
